The Texas economy is booming; East Texas is a big reason why

TYLER, Texas (KETK) – As the country recovers from the cost of the pandemic, our state’s economy is booming.

Texas has won the title of “Best State for Business” for the 17th consecutive year. This means businesses here on the Loop and throughout East Texas are seeing an increase in investment that will strengthen our economy.

Over the weekend, Governor Abbott praised our state and East Texas on Twitter, particularly for Longview and Tyler’s recent economic growth.

“Our elected officials here in the city, the department and even the school district, they work well together. I’ve worked in three states in my 20-plus year career and I’ve never seen local-level cooperation the way I see it here,” said Scott Martinez, CEO of Tyler Economic Development.

In Longview, the Gap warehouse will create more than 500 full-time jobs by the end of 2023 and grow to more than 1,000 full-time jobs over the next five years. With continued growth, Tyler’s businesses are now able to give back to their community more than in the past.

“In the case of Trane, this facility has been here since the 1950s and Tyler Pipe has been here since the 1930s, so these are companies that have been here for decades and they’ve been successful here and they choose to invest in the community. “, Martinez said.

A thriving economy, stretching deep into eastern Texas.

“Here at the Nacogdoches County Chamber, we’ve hosted literally a dozen grand openings that typically involve business expansion and new business start-ups,” said C. Wayne Mitchell, President and CEO. management of the Nacogdoches Chamber of Commerce.

Interstate 20, the extensive rail system, and the abundance of land here at home are ideal for large companies building warehouses.

We cannot forget the medical industry which drives our economy all year round.

“Frankly, I’m surprised at the number of young women and young men I meet almost daily who are considering going into business, young entrepreneurs, so it’s a pretty exciting time for Texas,” Mitchell said.

Experts say the best way to maintain these trends is to leverage the technology at our disposal to stay ahead of the game.
